Good Night, Good Fight: Navy vs Air Force

College Football Breakdown by John Turner

Navy 43 – Air Force 25

Earlier in the week it was reported that Aurora, the Air Force (3-2) mascot falcon had passed away at the age of 23. This ironically wasn’t the first time Aurora made the news as last year she was abducted in a prank. She was a White Phase Gyrfalcon, which is a very rare variety.

Navy controlled the game early and went into halftime with a 14-6 lead. Malcom Perry and Donald Hammond were a treat to watch run the triple option. Unfortunately for Air Force every touchdown by Navy(3-1) was immediately answered by a field goal… until the fourth quarter. Air Force broke out some Tom Foolery and managed to get some big plays late to take the lead with under 3:15 left in the game. However, it was Perry with an amazing drive to retake the lead. We saw a great final effort by Air Force getting to mid field and playing till the final second. As usual the scene on the field is just tremendous about 5,000 Midshippmen storming the field. Navy looks to be well on the way to winning the Commander in Chief Award.
