NFL Game Recap by John Turner
Brees came out the gate accurate on the opening drive going 6/7 only to have the drive stall and end with a missed field goal. They came out moving the ball but a sound all too familiar to fans in Chicago occurred as a field goal attempt dunked off the upright in the first quarter to cap a drive that went 77 yards with Trubisky going 6/6. No Kamara no problem for the Saints as Latavious Murray put on a performance proving he can tote the rock and be a dual threat full time.
Murray would give the Saints another score giving them a 17-6 lead with five and change left in the third. Drew Brees would add two topdown passes to draw closer in the chase to 539 with Tom Brady. The Cardinals would show flashes of greatness on offense but couldn’t convert for touchdowns, meanwhile Brees would throw for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns as he added one late to Michael Thomas.
